LESSON 1 – GOD: THE CREATOR
Lesson 1 – God: The Creator
A. Old Testament
Do you know what God created before creating us?
In the beginning, there was nothing—no earth, no sky, no sea, and no animals. Everything was formless and empty. Then, God spoke: “Let there be light!” And immediately, there was light, chasing away the darkness and showing the vast space. God decided that light would be called “day” and darkness would be called “night.” That was the first day.
On the second day, God made the earth (land) and the sky. The second day ended.
On the third day, God gathered all the water in one place and dry land in another. He made plants, trees, and grasses grow on the land.
On the fourth day, God created the sun to light up the sky during the day and the moon and stars to sparkle at night.
On the fifth day, God created fish to swim in the oceans and birds to fly in the sky.
On the sixth day, God made all kinds of animals: lions, tigers, bears, rabbits, sheep, cows, and many more, from ants to zebras. He then created humans to enjoy and take care of everything He made. God was happy with all He had done.
After six days, the entire universe was complete. On the seventh day, God took a rest and enjoyed everything He had created. He blessed this day as a special day for rest and worship.
God made the first man, Adam, from dust and breathed life into him. God then created a woman, Eve, from one of Adam’s ribs to be his partner. God placed them in a beautiful garden called Eden, where they could enjoy and care for all the plants and animals. In the garden, there were many trees, including the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
God told Adam and Eve that they could eat from any tree in the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He warned them that if they ate from this tree, they would die.
