LESSON 12 – THE VISIT OF THE WISE MEN
Lesson 12 – The Visit of the Wise Men (Matthew 2)
Do you know why we hang stars during Christmas? It’s because of a very special story!
A long time ago, baby Jesus was born in a town called Bethlehem. At that time, a bright star appeared in the sky. Far away in the East, some wise men saw the star and knew it meant something very important — a new king had been born! So they followed the star to find Him.
The star led them to a place called Jerusalem, where they asked, “Where is the baby who is the King of the Jews? We saw His star and came to worship Him.”
The king of that land, Herod, was worried when he heard this. He asked his helpers, “Where is this baby supposed to be born?” They told him, “In Bethlehem.”
Then King Herod secretly called the wise men and said, “Go find the child, and when you do, tell me. I want to worship Him too.” But Herod wasn’t telling the truth—he was afraid of the new king.
The wise men left, and the star guided them all the way to where baby Jesus was. When they saw Him with His mother Mary, they were so happy! They gave Jesus special gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Later, the wise men had a dream that warned them not to go back to King Herod. So they went home a different way.
That’s why we put up stars at Christmas — to remember the star that led the wise men to Jesus. And we celebrate Christmas because it’s the day Jesus was born to bring love and hope to the world!
My Decision:
I will love, respect, and praise my Lord God.

Matthew 2:10 — When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
