LESSON 3 – THE OFFERING THAT PLEASED GOD
Lesson 3 – The Offering That Pleased God (Genesis 4)
Would you rather be sad or happy?
We all prefer to be happy. Do you want to know about an offering which made God happy?
Cain was angry. He took Abel to the field and killed him.
“Where is your brother Abel?,” God asked Cain.
He replied…
God cursed Cain.
CURSES
- WHEN YOU WORK THE GROUND, IT WILL NO LONGER YIELD ITS CROPS FOR YOU.
- YOU WILL BE A RESTLESS WANDERER ON THE EARTH.
- ANYONE WHO KILLS CAIN WILL SUFFER VENGEANCE SEVEN TIMES OVER.
Cain was cursed because he broke the commandment of God, ‘Do not kill.’ We should follow the path of God and do only good. When we prepare offerings for God, we should give the best of what we have. If so, He will be pleased by our offering and will bless us.
Bible Verse:
Genesis 4:5 – And the Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering. But on Cain and his offering, He did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.
My Decision:
I will offer the best of what I have.
Questions:
- Who are the sons of Adam?
- Whose offering was accepted by God?
- What did Abel offer to God?
- Which commandment was broken by Cain?
- How did God curse Cain?
- What type of offering should we give to God?
