CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES – PRAYER
PRAYER
Prayer is communicating or talking with God. We may not be able to call God on the telephone or send Him a letter, but prayer is just as real as e-mail or newspapers. Why should we pray? Because it makes our relationship with God stronger. Could you imagine trying to have a best friend without communicating with them? Prayer is seeking God and His direction for our lives. Praying also helps keep us out of trouble.
Jesus told us to pray, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.” (Matthew 26:41)
Prayer is a golden key to open the door of heaven. The life of the church rests on prayer. Christian life itself is a prayer. In addition to canonical prayers, we should have personal prayers too for maintaining our relationship with God.
TYPES OF PRAYERS
Church Centered Prayer
Praying at church Sunday School is important because it provides a dedicated time to communicate with God, build a personal relationship with Him, express gratitude, ask for guidance, and learn how to pray together as a community, which can strengthen faith and foster unity among believers; essentially, it’s a way to actively engage with the teachings of the Bible and deepen your spiritual connection within a supportive church environment. We go to church every Sunday for Holy Qurbana which helps us to grow in faith and to hold a strong faith in God.
Family Prayer
Family prayer is considered important because it brings family members closer to God, strengthens their bond with each other, provides a space to express needs and concerns collectively, and teaches children about faith and the practice of prayer, essentially creating a sense of unity and spiritual connection within the family unit. God. If a family joins together in prayer for any special need, definitely God will hear our eligible prayer. In family prayer, we should have intercessory prayer too. We have a tradition of making requests for the intercession of saints and Church Fathers. Along with our prayer, the saints also will pray for us. And we also should pray for each other.
Personal Prayer
A personal prayer Sunday school lesson is important because it teaches individuals how to develop a direct, personal relationship with God through prayer, allowing them to express their needs, concerns, thanksgivings, and praise directly to Him, fostering a deeper spiritual connection and providing a way to seek guidance and strength in their daily lives.
