LESSON 15: TRANSFIGURATION OF JESUS
Lesson – The Transfiguration of Jesus (Matthew 17:1-13)
“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Do you remember hearing this? This was during the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River. Later, there was such a saying. Don’t you want to know when that happened?
After Peter said that Jesus was the Son of the living God, Jesus prophesied about His crucifixion and rising from the dead. But they did not understand these plans of God.
One day Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain. And He transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.
The Old Testament prophets Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.
Peter then asked Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If You wish, let us make three tents here — one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud saying,
“THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED. HEAR HIM!”
When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were very afraid. Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” When they lifted their heads and looked up, they only saw Jesus. He told them not to share anything that had happened until He died and resurrected.

Note to the Teachers
- The student must feel enthusiastic to hear the words of God every day.
- The chapter aims to make the child live in a way that whenever he or she faces a difficult time, they will remember the word of God “Do not be afraid” and trust in Him.
