LESSON 16: DISCIPLES ARE SENT TO SERVE
Lesson 16 – Disciples Are Sent to Serve
Jesus went around the villages to teach. Many people gathered around Him. People were surprised to see His miracles where He raised a person from the dead and cured the paralyzed. He reached His own country and began to teach in the synagogue. Many who listened to him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? Is this Man the Son of Mary?” Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.”
Then He called His disciples next to Him and sent them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.
The commands he gave them were:
- take nothing for the journey except a staff
- wear sandals
- not put two tunics
- in whatever place they enter a house, stay there until they depart from that place
- whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them
So, they went out and preached that people should repent. They cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.

Note to Teachers:
- The chapter aims to make the child live close to God.
- The student must be encouraged to listen to the commandments of God and abide by them.
- Another aim is to make them spread the word of God.
